Experience one of Australia's oldest Georgian Mansions built in 1829. Originally called Melbourne Lodge, The Lodge on Elizabeth was built by John Stracey who was the colony's first auctioneer. It became a private school for boys in 1831. It then became the home for the Honourable George Salier (MLC), his wife Harriet and their fourteen children. For a period of over 180 years, many notable families have resided here - including the Premier: the Honourable Adye Douglas (MLC). The lodge on Elizabeth is listed by the National Trust and forms part of the National Estate - thus becoming part of Australia's lasting heritage. Each of the 13 rooms have a different look and feel: all have ensuites and some of the more luxurious rooms feature spas and four-poster beds. From The Lodge, it's a short walk to the CBD or approximately 30 restaurants. Prices include a full continental buffet breakfast.
